Pain Management

Pain management is essential because even when the underlying disease process is stable, uncontrolled pain prevents patients from working productively, enjoying recreation, or taking pleasure with their families and in life. It is the first indication that something is critically wrong in our body.

Boothwyn Pharmacy provides alternative methods of delivery to make taking medication easier. Instead of a capsule or tablet, pain medications often can be compounded in dosage forms such as a transdermal gel, cream, or spray form that can be applied directly to the site of the pain and absorbed through the skin.

Acute and Chronic Pain

Chronic pain may have many causes and perpetuating factors, and therefore can be much more challenging to manage than acute pain. Some pains require a multidisciplinary approach and customized treatment protocols to meet the specific needs of each Patient.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) are medications that relieve or reduce pain. The most popular examples of this group of drugs are aspirin and ibuprofen. NSAIDs also come under the broader definition of non-opioid analgesics that are used to treat many pain conditions. Limitations to these medications are often a result of dose-dependent adverse events such as gastrointestinal disturbances, cardiovascular events, and renal toxicity.

Sports Injury

Sports injuries are common and often occur in both seasoned athletes as well as amateurs. Pain issues can range from a single accident to prolonged wear-and-tear conditions depending on the kind of sports one exercises. We provide transdermal multi-modal pain-relieving creams for sprains; severe arthritis pain; back pain; muscle soreness; tennis elbow; foot or ankle pain; shoulder pain; and so many more.
